How Will You?

How will you take the first step on that daunting task? Exactly how will you find the courage to forgive the one who hurt you?  Maybe you’re the one who needs to ask for forgiveness. How is that going to happen? Just how will you get out of bed when life doesn’t seem worth living?  What about resisting those strong temptations? How will you recover from that horrible decision?

Let me ask you…

How did Eve keep living when one of her sons murdered the other?
How did Noah build the ark when the rest of the world said he was an idiot?
How did Abraham leave everything simply on a promise from God?
How did Jacob face the brother he betrayed?
How did Joseph forgive the brothers who sold him away?
How did Hannah give up her son for the work of the Lord?
How did David stand against the giant?
How did Jeremiah keep going when all he wanted to do was cry?
How did Daniel walk into a den of lions?
How did Esther risk her life for her people?
How did Mary parent the Son of God?
How did Peter proclaim Christ to thousands?
How did Paul keep preaching after being stoned for doing so?

The answer is simple.  The God of all creation who brings salvation gave them the strength. His love motivated them. His forgiveness comforted them. His presence steadied them, and his power encouraged them.    He lent them his own strength to accomplish what he had placed before them.

When you have a God who promises to love and be with you, to prepare and lead you, to follow and forgive you, don’t underestimate what you can do.

How will you do what you have to do?

I think you know the answer…just like they did.

“I can do all things, through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13
